Website Chat Widget

The chat experience visitors use on your site

The Assistrio Website Chat Widget is the chat experience visitors use on your site — a branded launcher and panel that answers from your knowledge, offers clear starting points, and can capture leads without sending people to a separate form first.

Available on all plans. Core Website Chat Widget customization and script or iframe embed on the Free plan, Starter, and Pro. Share Agent Preview links are available on Starter and Pro.

A Website Chat Widget That Does More Than Display Messages

The Website Chat Widget is the visitor-facing chat surface for your Assistrio agent. It is not only a contact bubble or a static message box — visitors open a launcher, ask questions in a chat panel, and receive answers grounded in the business knowledge you approve.

When someone needs a person, the same conversation can collect lead details so your team follows up with full context instead of an empty form submission.

  • Answer common website questions from approved content
  • Guide visitors with a welcome message, suggested questions, and quick links
  • Capture name, email, company, phone, and optional custom fields when you enable Lead Capture
  • Keep chat history available in your Assistrio workspace for review

Answer Questions Using Your Business Knowledge

The widget does not invent a separate knowledge source. Replies draw on the content you add under Knowledge Base & Training — so answers stay tied to your business information rather than generic model guesses.

  • Files and documents you upload
  • Questions and answers (Q&A)
  • Text snippets
  • Datasheets

Configure sources and keep them current in Knowledge Base & Training.

Add the Widget to Your Website

Publish the Assistrio Website Chat Widget with a copy-and-paste script or iframe embed — most teams do not need a developer. Add an allowed website, place the embed on your site, then preview desktop and mobile before go-live. Use the script for a floating launcher, or an iframe when the chat panel should sit in a support or contact layout.

Install steps

  1. Create and configure your agent — profile, tone, welcome message, and lead-capture settings.
  2. Add business knowledge — files, Q&A, snippets, and datasheets you approve.
  3. Customize the Website Chat Widget — appearance, launcher, position, suggested questions, and quick links.
  4. Add the allowed website for the domains where the widget may run.
  5. Copy the script or iframe embed from Deploy & Go Live and add it to your site. Test on desktop and mobile, then publish when you are ready.

Browser embeds are limited to sites you approve under Security and Allowed Websites.

Customize the Widget to Match Your Website

Visitors should recognize the chat as part of your site. Assistrio lets you align the Website Chat Widget with your brand before you publish.

  • Agent name and welcome message
  • Brand color and launcher appearance
  • Launcher position (bottom-left or bottom-right)
  • Suggested questions visitors can tap to start
  • Quick links in the chat header for useful pages
  • Open-on-load settings for desktop and mobile when you want the panel to open automatically

Profile, tone, welcome message, and brand controls live under Agent Setup, Branding & Customization.

Designed for Desktop and Mobile Visitors

On desktop, the script embed uses a floating launcher and chat panel so visitors can ask questions without leaving the page. On touch phones and narrow viewports, the open panel uses a full-screen mobile experience that is easier to read and type into.

When a visitor closes the chat on mobile, the launcher returns so they can open it again. You can also enable open-on-load separately for desktop and mobile if you want the panel to start open on selected visits.

Capture Leads During the Conversation

When a visitor needs human follow-up — or when you want contact details during chat — Lead Capture can collect information in the conversation instead of sending them to a separate form first.

Built-in fields include name, email, company, and phone. You can add custom fields when your process needs more context. Captured leads stay available in your workspace with the chat history attached.

Configure fields and capture behavior in Lead Capture. Lead export is available on paid plans.

Give Visitors Faster Starting Points

A clear welcome message, suggested questions, and quick links help visitors begin without guessing what to ask. Suggested questions appear as starting prompts in the widget. Quick links can point to important pages on your site from the chat header.

Examples only — configure the wording that matches your business:

  • What services do you offer?
  • How does pricing work?
  • Can I book a demo?
  • View pricing
  • Contact support

Protect Where the Widget Can Be Used

You choose the websites where the Assistrio Website Chat Widget is allowed to run. Browser embeds check the page origin (and iframe referrer for iframe installs) against your allowed list.

That helps stop unauthorized browser use if someone copies your embed code onto a site you did not approve. It is not a claim of absolute protection against every form of misuse — it is a practical control for where the public widget should appear.

Manage approved domains in Security and Allowed Websites. On the Free plan you can add allowed websites; editing or deleting them requires a paid plan.

Review Conversations in Assistrio

After visitors chat, conversations appear in your Assistrio workspace so your team can review questions and answers, see captured leads with context, and improve knowledge where answers fall short.

Advanced Analytics & Exports help you inspect topics, sentiment, and trends — with deeper history and export options on paid plans. Google Maps Location Analytics is available on Pro.
