No. Webflow only runs custom code on the published site. Publish, then test on your live or webflow.io URL.

Overview
Webflow sites are often the front door for SaaS products, agencies, and B2B services, which means high-intent visitors with specific questions. Assistrio lets them ask, get an accurate answer, and leave their details when they are ready to talk to your team.
Because Assistrio loads through Webflow’s site-wide footer code, it works with any template and does not interfere with your Designer layout or interactions.

- The chatbot your visitors see is Assistrio’s Website Chat Widget — branded, mobile-friendly, and trained on your knowledge.
Why add an AI chatbot to your Webflow site?
Visitors on Webflow sites ask the same questions every day — and most leave when nobody answers. An AI chatbot trained on your own content answers instantly, day or night, and hands real buying or support intent to your team with the full conversation attached.
Assistrio answers only from the knowledge you approve — documents, Q&A, snippets, and datasheets — so replies match your actual products, prices, and policies instead of generic AI guesses.
Questions it can answer from your content:
- “Does your product integrate with HubSpot?”
- “What’s included in the Pro plan?”
- “How long does onboarding take?”
- “Do you work with companies outside the US?”
What you need before you start
There is no Webflow app or plugin to install from a marketplace. You paste one Assistrio script into your site, which keeps the setup light and works with any Webflow theme or template.
- A published Assistrio Agent with your knowledge added
- The install snippet copied from Assistrio after publishing
- A Webflow plan that allows custom code on your site (check your Site or Workspace plan)
- Site settings access in Webflow
- New to Assistrio? See how Assistrio setup works — create the Agent, add knowledge, test, then publish.
Install the chatbot on Webflow (site-wide)
Footer code runs on every page of your published site, which is what you want for a chat widget.
- In Webflow, open your site’s Site settings and go to the Custom code tab.
- Paste the Assistrio snippet into the Footer code box (the field labeled “Before </body> tag”).
- Click Save changes.
- Publish your site. Custom code only runs on the published site, not inside the Designer canvas.
- Open the published site in a private window and test the chat launcher.

Alternative: show the chatbot on specific pages only
To limit the chatbot to certain pages, such as pricing or docs, add the snippet in Page settings → Custom code → Before </body> tag for each page instead of site-wide, then publish.
Add your domain to allowed websites
Assistrio only loads your Agent on websites you approve. Before you test, open your Agent in Assistrio and add every domain visitors use to the allowed websites list — the browser sends your page’s origin, and it must match an entry exactly.
Add your custom domain and, if you test on Webflow’s staging address, your yoursite.webflow.io domain too.
- Read how origin checks protect your Agent in Security & Allowed Websites.
Test the chatbot on your live site
Open your published site in a private browser window so cached files and logged-in editor views do not hide the widget. The chat launcher should appear in the corner of the page; ask a question your knowledge covers and confirm the answer, then ask one it does not cover to check the fallback and Lead Capture behavior.
Every test conversation appears in Manage Conversations, so you can review exactly what the Agent said and add missing knowledge before real visitors arrive.
- Prefer to test before installing? Use Agent Playground & Preview inside Assistrio first.
Troubleshooting on Webflow
If the chat launcher does not show up, work through these checks in order:
- Remember to publish after saving custom code — unpublished changes never reach visitors.
- Custom code does not run in the Designer preview; always test on the published URL.
- Confirm your plan supports custom code if the Custom code fields are locked.
- Check allowed websites includes both your custom domain and webflow.io domain.
